DSL Installation Notes
The steps and requirements to set up and install DSL may vary depending on whether the DSL is provisioned over a phone line with active phone service (regular or Lineshare DSL), or over a phone line without active phone service (Standalone or Dry Loop DSL). Please review the DSL FAQ for additional details.
Regular (Lineshare) DSL, over a phone line with active phone service, is usually self-installed with ease, by connecting the DSL modem to a working inside telephone jack, and connecting the line filters to existing telephones, as instructed. Customers may contact us for assistance by phone when self-installing regular Lineshare DSL.
However, Standalone or Dry Loop DSL, over a phone line without active phone service, is different. When we order a new Standalone DSL line, for a customer, the telephone company only connects the new data line to the telephone company box (NID) on the outside of the building. From there it will still need to be connected to an inside telephone jack so the DSL modem may be connected to it.
This typically requires that the customer hire a third party technician, who is familiar with telephone wiring, to make the connection from the telephone company box (NID) on the outside, to a telephone jack on the inside.
It is the subscriber's responsibility to hire a third party technician. Widomaker is not responsible for any charges associated with hiring a third party technician. Please review the DSL FAQ for additional details.
